The keel of Vietnam's second Gepard-class (Project 11661) guided-missile frigate was laid at the builder's Zelenodolsk Shipyard in Russia on 27 November.

Construction of the first frigate commenced in July 2007 following the signing of the USD300 million two-boat deal in December 2006.
