UK Firm Grants Thai Army Licence to Produce Artillery Pieces

UK's BAE Systems has given the Thai Army a licence to produce its L119 light artillery pieces, making Thailand it's first production base in Southeast Asia, news reports said on Sunday.
The production licence falls under the Thai-UK Defence Equipment Modernization Agreement, under which 22 L119 systems will be locally assembled. They will be commissioned into the 31st Artillery Battalion, the army's airborne infantry unit and part of its rapid deployment force, said The Nation newspaper.
Another 16 systems will be commissioned into the same battalion next year.
The L119 guns are also used by the US Army under the designation M119.
